Update Model # in Eprom in 2014?

Researching this issue I found that people were directed to the HDM floppy, then pc-doctor. Neither of these exist anymore. I'm refurbishing a T400 and I attempted to run system update and got a weird and incomplete model number and then system update said there were no updates for this model (7C_ doesn't exist anyways). It's a T400 6474-V8C. I first tried the second option on in the bios update utility but this only allows you to clear the model number which should then be restored with the default value stored in the mboard. But I got the 7C_ again when I rebooted. Is there any software available today that can affect this change to the eprom?
thanks

Try a search for HMD instead.

I got an unsold t60 and visited some seriously unsavory websites but I now have i7tm23us.exe, which creates a HDM if you have a floppy drive, which I don't. I thought I had been reading about how to create a bootable cdrom from this file but I cannot seem to find that thread. Does anybody know how to use this file without an actual floppy drive? I will have to re-clone the os installation on that t60 because I'm sure it's malwared.

Newer ones like ...32us.exe allow you to make bootable USB-sticks.
