T410s Webcam dead

#1 Post by ossianjohn » Wed May 14, 2014 7:51 pm

When I first got my refurb T410s about 6 months ago the internal webcam worked simply by pressing Fn/F6.
Now all I get is the Audio settings.
All the drivers are loaded and no "!" appear on the Device Manager list.
Device Manager list says I have an Integrated Camera installed.
Skype says "no camera found".
I have all the latest Windows 7 updates.
Thanks for any help.....

I can think of 3 scenarios.
1. The webcam's cable connection became loose.
2. The webcam died. (It happens)
3. The cable got damaged.
Daily driver: X220 4291-P79 i5-2520M

In reserve: X61 T7500, X60 T2300
In pieces: X60s CS U1300 [board only], two retired but working X61Ts
RIP: 760XD 9546-U9E

Thanks for the reply however none of those items is causing the problem.
So..............
Before doing a System Restore I did a full HD image backup.

After the System Restore the camera worked.

That tells me the hardware is OK.
I can only assume that the software (files or drivers) has been changed during an update either by Microsoft or Lenovo.

Restoring from the first backup put me back to normal but webcam dead again.

I have a feeling this is not fixable unless Lenovo gets involved.

Thanks again for any help.
