T510 CPU and Screen Upgrade

#1 Post by Yeltsew7 » Sun Jun 15, 2014 12:05 pm

I currently have the i5 520M CPU in my T510. Could I just open it up, remove the heatsink and replace the CPU with, for example, http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Core-i7-M ... 4897.l5661 ?

Also, I have a 1366x768 screen in currently. Could I just replace it with http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-ORIGiNAL-AU ... 2c677d2cba or http://www.ebay.com/itm/AU-Optronics-B1 ... 2a399f39d5 to upgrade the resolution? Do I have to install a new BIOS or a new cable or anything?

About my T510:
Type: 4314-2NU
CPU: i5-M520
GPU: NVIDIA NVS 3100M
RAM: 4GB DDR3
OS: Debian Testing and Windows 7 (both user installed)
HDD: 500GB Seagate Hybrid and 250GB WD Blue in UltraBay

Yes to both upgrades. No BIOS update needed. LCD cable should work "out of the box" as well.
