Hi all, after owning a series of T2X, T4X and T6X Thinkpads, I'm the proud owner of a T400, 8GB, 250GB SSD with Win8 Pro. Fought a little with the driver installs, but right now I'm running with the standard MS graphics driver.
I can't determine which graphics card is in the machine, so I can install the specific drivers. The old Lenovo hardware spec lookup doesn't seem to be working anymore (support > product number), or maybe the links that I've found are outdated.
The model is 6475-R1U.
I know that this system isn't fully supported for W8.1, so any other info folks might have is appreciated. So far it's a refreshing update from the T60, but I do long for the old 4:3 screen...

Re: Determining the graphics card T400; Win8.1 drivers
From http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product ... fault.page#
"P8400(2.26GHz), 2GB RAM, 160GB 5400rpm HD, 14.1in 1280x800 LCD, Intel X4500HD, CDRW/DVD, Intel 802.11agn wireless, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, Fingerprint reader, Camera, 6c Li-Ion, WinVista Business 32"
This does not have discrete graphics, so it should be completely 8.1 compatible.
HOWEVER, I have recently noted, with an X61, that the only way to get all the Lenovo packages in is to install them to Windows "8.0", before upgrading to 8.1. With 8.1, some of the packages are flagged by the installers as incompatible, even though they continue to work if installed with "8.0".

Many thanks for that, precip. For some reason, when I put my model number in any one of those boxes, I get nothing. It delivers either a blank page, a page that says "timeout detected" or one that says "no product selected".precip9 wrote:From http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product ... fault.page#
So there must be an issue with my browsers.
Appreciate the assist.
