Video capture question

Greetings,

I am curious if anyone here can offer advice as to what devices work good for capturing composite video onto the T420. I am not so much concerned about the software, I plan on using Sony Movie Studio 12 to do that work; I just need the hardware to plug my older camcorder into.

I plan on adding a USB3 card into the PCMCIA slot; wont be true 3.0 speed but better than 2.0, so that is an additional option to work with.

TIA

Is composite video the only output from your camera? No Firewire? Hmm... just checked and realized that the T420 doesn't have a built-in Firewire port :( .

I had used one of those cheap RCA-to-USB adapters several years ago and while I believe that it worked good enough for my purpose back then I don't recall any particular details besides not being able to start/stop my camcorder via the interface (like you can do with a Firewire connection). It was one of those no-name brands bought for around $10 on eBay.

If I can get one of my old Digital 8 cameras working again I can then use firewire to transfer the Hi8(my T420 does have FW BTW, it is on the back side of the laptop next to the powered, yellow, USB port) but I will need a composite connection for the VHS tapes

Thanks for stopping by

Ah, sorry about that. I read the tabook quickly and missed the note that said some T420 came with IEE1394.
