As I recall Lenovo has had video tutorials on how to disassemble and reassemble the Thinkpad laptops; I have used one for my X200; can anyone point me in the direction for the T420 tutorials?

Those are Lenovo's video tutorials. The ones for the the T420 are sparse, but you should be able to use some of the T430 (not T430s or T430u) videos to help you since the chassis is quite similar. Also, the hardware maintenance manual should give you full instructions on disassembly.
