dead laptop - bad wifi card?

#1 Post by abstoler » Thu Sep 04, 2014 10:58 pm

Hi all,

Oddball question: I have a Lenovo t410i that is completely dead. About two years ago, I dropped a bit of water on the keyboard, and something got fried so that the keys wouldn't type correctly anymore. When I went to replace the keyboard, I accidentally ripped one of the cables from the Intel Wifi Card (model 622anhmw). When this happened, the laptop would not power on. After two years, I am finally sitting down to try and fix this, but before I go buy a new wifi card (the cable was ripped out with the solder connection), I wanted to ask if anyone out there knew whether simply replacing the wifi card will actually solve the problem.

Seems like it's a pretty strange thing for the laptop to route all power through this tiny card, but I've seen stranger things.

Thanks!

Pretty hard to diagnose water damage. As for the wifi card, remove it and see if the machine will power on. If it turns on without the card then your answer is obvious and you got really lucky.
