T410s shutdown on boot

#1 Post by slam5 » Fri Sep 05, 2014 2:49 am

I got a used T410s. There is no drive in the internal 1.8" micro sata bay. There is a 120GB Seagate momentus 5400 rpm drive in the hard drive caddy. The thing is I like to put a SSD in there, The system boots properly with the 120gb Seagate drive in caddy. But if I put in another drive, be it a regular spinning drive or a SSD, the system will start to boot but it will shutdown after 30 seconds on less. The caddy is after market. I had tried a Western Digital 160GB, Kingston 240GB SSD and a Seagate Momentus 750GB Momentus drive. I put the working 120GB HDD in and found out it will not boot from the Windows 7 install disk either. I had tried 2 DVD burner, one is a Lenovo and the other is a Iomega. All with the same result. Is it the drive caddy? Or is it something else?

Thanks in advance!

ps: this is for a friend and I probably can get the seller to accept the drive back.

Check in the BIOS the SATA setting. Try changing to the other setting.
