T410 & Samsung SS heat question

My T410 runs very cool 90% of the time.

However there are times when I notice the left side of the palm rest heating up. This is of course where my SSD is installed. So I am curious if anyone else has noticed this? Is it just the Samsung SSD? I know SSD's can run warm (but mostly cooler than their mechanical cousins). It's never hot enough to bother me, but its noticeable.

Other than that my machine is amazing in the amount of power it has inside and retaining the ability to remain cool and quiet. Heck even when gaming (the most stressful thing I do), I can barely hear my fan. Sure, I can feel the exhaust air, but even then it's not all that hot.

I have an 840 pro SSD in my T61, and it will ocassionally get warm, but it is barely noticeable. Still runs cooler than the 5400rpm hard drive from my T41. Also, have you noticed any occasional high pitched electrical whine/noise from your SSD? Happens to me and I wonder if it might be normal or an issue.

I haven't heard any whine or noise from my SSD.

I was just curious about the heat, it's not that big of a deal.

Most probably the garbage collector kicks in, and the controller is moving data around; that means it sucks more power, and have more heat to dissipate . I leave my laptop every working day powered on, on my desk, just the screen locked, during the lunch break, and when I return, the left palmrest is a little warmer. GC I'd say.

What would you be looking for in the device manager?
