switch ssd hd from T60 to T420

what problems are there in switching a 128 ssd from T60 to a T420

Physically there will be no issues.

Software wise though installing the drive in a T420 from a T60 there will probably be issues.

The T420 is four generations newer so their hardware is very different.

What I would do is confirm you have a working backup of anything important.

You didn't mention which operating system you are using. If its Windows and it starts I would startup in safe mode.

Anything is possible.

My ssd on T60 is Win7 home premium & My T420 is Win 8.1 I propose to install it in the internal hd

I apologize I am not exactly clear on what you are doing with each drive.

Are you moving the SSD from the T60 to the T420? If so then your T420 will have Windows 7 Home Premium and not Windows 8.1.

That is my plan!!! I don,t like Win 8.1 my camera does not work on skype there are no drivers for it
the fn+ f6 does not work etc.etc. Also I have another 128 ssd I can take out of the 420 and place in the 420 bay. i,m sure I,m going to have issues ,but this forum has helped me in the past with my T42,T60, now T42. Thanks in advance.

All I can say is if the storage controller is set the same on both machines and it should boot up fine and just need the new drivers installing and potentially re-activating Windows.

What camera are you using? Unusual that 8.1 doesn't have drivers for it. Have you tried the Win 7 driver? These frequently work.
