HI! I took the hd from my T60 that was in the ultra bay and put it in the T420 ultra bay. It showed up alright ,but a few files are xls and I couldn,t find an app that would allow me to print. All of them only read. I tried notepad but when it opened it was all scambled. now I can,t get rid of notepad. HELP!!!

"xls" files are Excel spreadsheet files. How did you open them before?

Since it couldn't find an app to open them on your T420, I'm assuming that you don't have Microsoft Office or an equivalent installed.

You could put the drive back into the T60, and convert them to "csv" files, if needed.

Hi! These files are on Office on the T60 BUT I have only Open Office on T420 . I,ll try to convert files back to cvs Thanks.

You can download Excel Viewer from the Microsoft site. This will allow you to print your spreadsheets. There are plenty of other free spreadsheet programs that will read Excel files.

The newest versions of Open Office should be able to open edit any office files.

I downloaded Microsoft excel viewer and it worked right away. Thanks a bunch!
