T420s DisplayPort Question

New (to me) T420s.
I want to connect the DisplayPort to the HDMI input on my TV, and have picture and sound. From searches of older threads I see that some users have had difficulty with this (with the sound in particular). Question is, is there a consensus on certain DisplayPort/HDMI adapters being better than others, or should anything Amazon has to offer work?
Thanks.

My experience with a T410 (not a T420s) is here:

I'm using a passive adapter (Siig CB-DP0062-S1) and only had to fiddle with the audio settings as outlined in that thread. Another user who has a T420 says that a different cable does work; it also looks to be passive. You might want to confirm that your T420s has the DP++ icon next to the port. That indicates it supports both HDMI and DVI signaling.

Yeah, I have that. Does it affect which adapter I should purchase?

I believe it does. With the DP++ logo you should be able to use a simple (and probably cheaper) passive connector/adapter.

I am answering my own question here for the future reference of anyone reading this thread.
I bought a
"Cable Matters Gold Plated DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter (Male to Female) with Audio in Black" for $12 on Amazon. It works fine. No changing of settings or other fuss.
