Yes you can replace the HDD with an SSD in your ThinkPad T410.
This is very common.
Any 2.5" SSD 9.5 mm in height or less will work.
I would stick with name brands like Intel, Samsung and Toshiba. Others here on the forum I am sure can recommend those and others.
Also any Lenovo FRU SSD would be recommended. The FRU drives usually have Lenovo firmware and while not necessarily having the fastest read/write specs they are always reliable. Reliability should be as important to you as your data is important to you.

I would also recommend Crucial as an excellent brand. Great reliability and performance with three year warranty on all SSDs I believe. Samsung Evo SSDs seem to be having problems so I would avoid those. However, the Samsung PRO SSDs are the high end line and feature best performance and a five year warranty! I have one and it works flawlessly.

An SSD is an excellent upgrade for your machine.
I have used Samsung's 840 line of SSD's with great results.
I am using the 840 EVO 250GB drive in my T410 right now and it flies!
Unfortunately, I haven't used any other manufacturer's drives, so I am unable to comment as to their speed or reliability.
