Compressing your SSD or HDD is a Windows 7 operation. It has nothing to do with the CPU. Right click on your hard drive and look under the general tab. There is a compress your hard drive check box.

Compressing data in a file to reduce the amount of disk space it takes up does use CPU cycles, regardless if it appears as a Windows "feature". I don't think that there's a separate processor built into a hard drive that does this compression. The CPU is tasked to compress when writing and expand when reading files to/from the disk, as part of the normal system calls that perform disk I/O. Note that this file compression will not make any previously compressed files smaller. I would equate it to automatically running PKZIP or 7-ZIP on each and very file as it's being used.

I fixed the fan disk error computer. The fan works again but I still ordered a backup fan from China just in case. My next task is disconnecting the LCD as suggested and reconnecting it to make certain the wires are connected correctly.

I use a toothbrush to clean off the fan blades. I have a solution to canned air but it's more exotic. When I get my workbench up and running and my solution to canned air. I will post pictures. It will take me another month to have my garage retooled.
