T500 Win7 32bit to Win8.1 64bit

I want to perform a clean install of Win8.1 64bit on my T500 delivered with Win7 32bit.

I know I need to perform a clean install but I have not done so in several years. I have searched the forum and have not found anything comprehensive. I have a new full version disk purchased retail.

Can any one give me or point me to step by step instructions about how to do it? Thanks in advance.
