I got another T410S. It was like Christmas in May because I found a 128GB SSD that was not supposed to be in the HDD drive bay. I bumped the ram up from 4GB to 8GB. My question as I have checked the bios and model types on multiple thinkpads. All the stickers under the Thinkpads match the BIOS model type under the computer. On this T410S model type it says 2924-WQE on the sticker. In the bios it says 2928-A17. Same specs but one doesn't come with an OS. This one didn't come with a CAO sticker but the benefits of living next door to Microsoft. I have many full retail copies of Windows 7 on hand. The battery has only 68 charging cycles, another bonus.
One more question. Do the HDD covers because of their long screws crack the palmrest? I get T410s models with hairline cracks above the HDD cover screw holes. I am using shorter screws than what comes standard with them. Anybody experience cracking on the palmrest directly above the HDD cover?

Re: T410S questions regarding model type
WQE has DOS and a WWAN option.
A17 has W7 and WWAN installed. Has yours a WWAN card?
Check the serials from motherboard and BIOS.
If they match the previous owner may have changed just the BIOS-TYPE.
OR, he just replaced the complete mobo.
What matters is that the mobo works (or not...).
AFAIK the HD-cover screw "screws" into the metal chassis, so no reason for the palmrest to crack.

Re: T410S questions regarding model type
The system unit serial number is also different than the sticker. I think this means it's a new motherboard. The computer works well. The 128GB SSD said the drive was failing in (Win 7 Pro) when it was not failing. It's passed a benchmark test as well. There is no WWAN card.
I am superstitious regarding the HDD cover screw because I have seen cracking directly inline and above the screw. I use a shorter screw than what comes standard.
