Ultrabay CD-Slider Lock re-invented! *PICS*

#1 Post by RealBlackStuff » Sat May 23, 2015 4:56 am

Many a times the CD-slider lock has gone missing in T420/T520 and similar.

Thanks to my lively fantasy, a replacement CD-slider lock was "created", using:
- a slightly modified/cut/tapered old battery slider (forgot from which one).
- a piece of plastic from the garbage
- a curtain hook I found in the garage
- a spring from a broken ballpoint

For comparison: both old and "new" sliders inside:

This is why you lose that lock.
That little tab is the only thing that holds the lock in place!
Speaking of crappy design...

And best of all: IT WORKS!
AND my new lock doesn't need that crappy little tab!

Hey RBS!

It looks like these parts are more or less similiar...they are from the t23, from the battery mechanism of the bottom case....so if anyone has this problem you described...these parts may fit also...Image Image

The spring i have already taken out, because i needed it to fix the latch mechanism of an X200 palmrest.

And all this time I've just been harvesting the missing/busted parts from a different bottom panel (that was tossed) to fix this issue when I could have been doing this! Nice job though!!
