New T410s palmrest installation help

#1 Post by Hans Gruber » Sun May 24, 2015 2:24 am

I got a brand new T410s palm rest. Watched a youtube install and noticed they didn't transfer the fingerprint reader and Touchpad hardware. I am transferring the hardware from the old palm rest to the new palm rest. Is the touchpad palm rest glued in? I had no problem removing the fingerprint reader but am stuck on the touchpad. I don't want to break anything.

Any tips or those with experience who have advice?

My post may have been a little obscure. I am having a difficult time removing the touchpad electronic board from the current palm rest. It's directly beneath the touchpad surface in a rectangle shape. It doesn't have screws and seems to be secured via some sort of glue.

Does anybody have experience removing the electronics board under the palm rest?

It is glued in with something like rubber cement. I have been able to get some of them off so I could reuse them, but most need to be replaced.

I did more research and realized they are pretty much permanent and decided to use the existing palmrest.
