Are the T410 and T420 batteries the same?

I have interchanged batteries from my T410 to my T420 without any problems. I believe the batteries for the T430 are different and are not compatible with the T410/420 machines.

Thanks for you reply. I know the T430 series has a different battery. I was looking into getting a T420 and have several extra batteries.

Your Welcome Hans. Good luck in your search for a T420. I found one on Ebay a few months ago for a good price (around $179). It had the Nvidia GPU, which was what I was looking for. The only thing (and it was minor) the trackpad was was a little worn. The interesting thing is that I thought I needed to get a new palm rest but the material on the trackpad is just a sticker. This was confirmed by someone in the forum and someone on Ebay (several actually) sell the replacement stickers. I have not had a chance to remove the old one and put the new one on, yet.

Actually...

The battery from T430 will work just fine in a T410/420, but not the other way around since the earlier batteries are missing a chip that is required for charging in the *30 series.

The batteries are swappable across T410/510/420/520 and W510/520 range.

That's good to know. I didn't realize the T430 batteries would work on T410 and T420 series thinkpads.
