Now I don't have to upgrade to the x1 carbon 3rd gen...

That is if these are still available...

I received B140HAN01.2 LCD from panelook.

Panel is new, packaging was good, I paid total 79,08 EUR for panel 66,87 USD + 18,89 for shipping to Slovenia. Also the post tacked on custom costs so I hade to pay additional 22,09 EUR for customs. Total was 101,17 EUR to receive the panel.

It took the panel 21 or 22 days to arrive.

I'll find the time to do the mod in the following weeks.

I got some pictures today but they did not get very good in daylight.

The one below is usable though, T420 with standard HD+ vs the FHD B140HAN01.2.

Thanks!! I can already see the improvement even in the photo above when I check the higher quality photo version of the above (I just swapped 800 with 2600 in the link . It does look good! and the text size looks good enough too. Is this the default text size or you have it zoomed?

If you could, also take a snap of the glossy vs matte if you get time.

It's not zoomed at all, I just left the same settings the standard install left... No scaling...

Very interested in getting a 1080p kit for my T420. Lovely little machine, the screen is its only weakness.

I am unsure whether questions about the screen itself would be allowed here or warrants a separate topic but I am interested in knowing whether different H/W versions of the AUO 1.2 screen, or having different FRUs written on the back sticker would also mean that they have different quality? If so then I'd like to know the exact FRU number written on the back as well as the H/W version etc.

I have seen AUO 1.2 it says H/W 0 version and FRU is 42T0733, manufactured 13/42 (October 2013?)

Oh well... In case I need to remove the bezel again I can take a look, otherwise they will stay like this for a while...

I'm just hoping you have some T420 kits left You have my interest. The stock screen is horrid but the IPS ones are beauties!

hi are there some kits left for t430s and/or have you alredy planes for ordering a new batch of the updated version?

also has this product: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/1pc-3-3V ... eb201560_9 from alibaba the same function exept, that is is larger and has no slim connector?

i could replace the large lvds connector with a smaller one like this: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product ... 78338.html and it should work.

This will not fit inside laptop due to space constrains and what about the 3.3V power source? I don't think the laptop has a separate power cable that would support this board.

Right now I'm seeking an LED T60/61, or building depending on luck. Failing that, this mod is where I'm headed next. Looking forward to the T420 non s kits.

I just discovered my T420s is bad. There are errors in Prime95 in under a minute. At first I was seing some weird crashes and errors but I attributed that to optimus, copying linux disk from another machine,..

Finally I ran the test both under Linux and clean Windows install and it's confirmed. I contacted ebay seller but it's been a month and I paid by bank transfer so worst case I'm looking at replacing either RAM (no big deal I was planning that anyway) or replacing motherboard (~250-300€). Or buying another T420s.

The 4GB modules are of different make and in my experience Thinkpads have been more sensitive with RAM modules before than other laptops.

I haven't attempted the mod yet although I have all the ingredients.

If you are looking for Ram, I bought the following 16GB Crucial kit and happily using it in my t430:

Anyway, I ordered a B140HAN01.2 but received a model called LTN140HL02 instead, does anyone know if this panel is any good?

Welcome to the Forum.
That LTN... screen is from Samsung.
Generally a lot of people on this forum consider Samsung screens as the lowest of the low.
Return it for a real AUO screen or a refund.
You probably bought it on eBay, where it was advertised as "compatible" or "for item so-and-so".
Those two words (compatible and for) in an eBay posting are usually a dead giveaway that their items are NOT the real deal!

I sure did buy from ebay and it sure said they would send a compatible model if the listed one was unavailable, but I explicitly stated in a message that I wanted them to cancel the order if the listed model was unavailable. I'll try to get my hands on a decent panel instead then, thanks for the information!

5 years with t410i have made my next choice..

Got t430 as-new with i7 and all the sh!7. Was actually looking to ips-upgrade. And, what an irony, while migrating from t410 I've smashed the screen on t430 with a wheel when I was changing my precious Golf MK3 to winter setup.

Hoping to hear something from RMS about T430 (non-S) kit, it is mid-November almost and the bad screen is getting on my nerves...

I'm tolerating the occasional flicker I get for now, hoping RMS will soon be back with revised kits, but keeping my original screen in storage just in case. For me the benefits outweigh the consequences, and giving up all that extra wonderful screen real-estate is just too much to cope with.

I think that due to lower price, better availability, better batterylife and capabilitiy to mod the T420 with a i7 Quad-Core CPU makes the FHD mod on the T420 even more interesting

I have this setup with the 1.1 screen and it has never flickered... Don't know if it is because of the screen or the card.
I guess I'll have to wait until the Retro Thinkpad comes out to get something other than 16:9, but until then, this has
breathed new life into my T420.

I've just found this forum after updating my T420 with an Intel AC7260 wifi card. Please add me to the list for a 1080p panel and adaptor board for my T420. And if there is a 2K mod which doesn't use the Display Port then add me to that list too.

It amazes me that such creative people are doing things like this in the first place. Bravo!

Just found this post. I have two T430s systems I'd love to do this upgrade to. So, I need to get in line for two kits and buy two LCDs, is that correct? When is the next batch going to be available?
Also, does anyone have a list of the LCDs to purchase?
