For this part we can see the TP HMM but for the Kit related stuff, what tutorial with pics did you follow - cause there are several out there.
Tasurinchi wrote:Well, the standard procedure actually... Removed battery, keyboard, palmrest, LCD bezel and the old awful panel.
Then plugged the cable from the kit in the new panel, the other cable end in the adapter, installed the new panel and plugged the adapter in the motherboard. E voila!
In a T430 is easier than the T420, in the latter you have to snap a small piece of the mg frame to make room for the adapter.
Is there a with pics tutorial for the kit?

Yes,
this one (I think there may be more in the previous pages of this thread).
There's also a good tutorial for the T420s/T430s in the German forum, the pictures are quite self explanatory but you may need to use Google translator if you want more details =>

T420s maximum external display resolution: 1600x900@60hz(DVI SingleLink mode) {3840x2160@30hz unofficial}
But we know from the 4K display thread, we know the T420s can drive 4K@30hz but not 60hz. So I'd think the external DP port on the T420s would be able to drive the same 2560x1600@60hz. Also, from that link we know the external DisplayPort connection is at least DP1.2, so that's good news.
I'd not push over 2K for a display, but then again, I can't stand a 30hz display.

Thanks for the insights. Where do the X220/T stand on a similar note. And what about the next gen i.e. X230/T & T4/530 series?
PS: Which 4K display thread? I tried search but forum search ignores 4k even if I put "4k display"

Yep. Cool, now we know for sure that it works with turboboost! Would be great if someone with a quad core would report the same success!

I'm really glad it works with i5-3320M with Turbo Boost as this is exactly the CPU I've got in my T430 (non-s). I'm still looking forward for new batch of adapters to upgrade my screen.

I'll take a kit for the T420s!!
I just got a T420s in sad shape for really cheap to restore, and it's coming along nicely. Parts are very cheap.

If you need some parts, hit me up. I was going to restore my T420s and ordered many new parts but then I found a brand new, sealed, mint in box T420s so I don't need the parts anymore.
I have the top cover lid, LCD bezel, logo strip, brand new genuine Lenovo battery, genuine AC adapter and probably a few more parts.

For those of us with T420 (non s) integrated graphics, it looks like there is some room where the dGPU would be. Has anyone tried placing the pcb there instead?

perhaps mid April. Started my part time internship now, it's really hard to make time while pursuing a master's degree. >_<
Also, that batch will be the last of this year presumably.
If the non-s kits come out or the 2K version come out I might do another batch or two for tasters though.

While searching on the internet for a replacement for my X200s, I found this forum and this thread here. This mod is so awesome! My next Thinkpad will definitely be a T420s.
I will take a kit for the T420s!

He posted the mid April ETA four (4) days ago. I don't think his plans have changed in 4 days.
Hopefully he'll have enough of them, I want to grab one before it gets too late.

Will absolutely get the kit for my T430s. Can't do any of graphics work while on the go, so an IPS screen would be a dream come true!
Don't know why everybody started checking in all of a sudden, but, on the other hand, why not? Hope it helps RMSMajestic gauge the demand for the upcoming batch(es) ;)

I'm sure he'll have enough to appease the rabid forum goers...

As I've mentioned in the listing please be aware of the chinese sellers (including those from HK) selling refurbished screen or EDID modified screens.... :/
It really cost a little for those sellers to print a B140HAN01.2 label, and most laptops will work regradless of the true screen model as long as the screen is 30 pin edp, however unfortunately this kit doesn't support that many screens.
And yesterday I purchased a B140HAN01.2 (******From a USA seller********), but received a LP140WF3-SPL1 as compatible screen instead.
Guess from the next batch onwards I might have to assign certain seller for the source of screens.

It would be great if you did. I have been looking around at screens, and a lot of the listings either are lacking information, not clear, or just not trustworthy. Mostly not trustworthy in my opinion.

For what it's worth, I bought my screen from here: hxxp://
www.aliexpress.com/item/Original-new-B1 ... 92594.html
I made sure to tell them that I want an exact model with no defects, dead/stuck pixels, white spots or scratches.
The screen is working beautifully. What I did notice though is that battery life is terrible after the IPS screen was installed, and I'm using two batteries in my T420s. I don't mind though because I use the laptop plugged in most of the time but this may be a problem for more mobile users.
