Sorry, I remember reading somewhere that only members who joined over a year ago were eligible to receive the $25 discount, and I would assume the early access to purchasing it before its listed on ebay.

Also, sorry, I usually like to give references when I can, but I completely forgot where I saw this.

When the pricing and ordering information was up in the original post, there was a discount given to members who have been around for awhile, I don't believe there was any line jumping for longer term members.

My poor T420s is looking at me, but I refuse to work on it until I get everything for it.

As i've read different statements quite a few times now: Do you loose any WIFI or Docking Station abilities when modding a T430s?

I was pretty sure that the adapter only converts LDS to eDP, nothing more, nothing less - but would like to make sure before buying. Thanks in advance! :)

I purchased this kit, received AUO screen 1.3 instead of described 1.2. That said, it is working flawlessly.

Just wanted to share my experience with the purchase of the B140HAN01.2

First attempt was with eBay through seller lcdoled-shop, received counterfeit panel, recommend DO NOT purchase from this seller

Second attempt was with Aliexpress through this this posting. Excellent seller, almost immediate reply through chat, fast shipping and secure packaging. Highly recommend.

Hope this helps for anyone also looking to get an authentic panel. Upgrade makes a world of difference!

Another forum member (who answered my request for someone to hack together an upgrade for me) and I have acted on http://www.thinkpads.com/forum/viewtopi ... 50#p766150 this post where two people confirmed receiving genuine ones and bought two panels from lcdtech889's auction -- I will edit this post when it arrives if it's genuine. My buddy have contacted the seller to confirm authentic panel, it'd be quite a sham(e) to send a counterfeit.

As an aside, I fervently hope the T420s will not break -- I have well padded backpacks. While I had more confidence in the T420 (I have two!) but this upgrade just doesn't want to happen to that. Oh well. And, I am actually happy for a lighter weight laptop. And, to be honest, I doubt "fragile" is a word that would apply to a ThinkPad T series laptop :)

What's the difference between this one and the one the OP is selling?

Thanks.

I would venture they are the same but buying directly off taobao is a bit of a trouble, you typically need an agent to do it.

According to posts in this tread from RMSMajestic:
Send him a private message and ask for his PayPal account. Transfering the money + request to him will complete the order.

Local time in New Jersey is only 8:51, and I think he will have a heavy backlog checking his mail today...

Plus if he is in Jersey City, I'm sure the packages will get to other states quickly, but if you ever drive over there, its annoying if you are in a rush. I've passed through there a few times in the last year, and its always the most traffic around.

But if hes a student, he may be on the student sleep schedule, and wont be awake yet. only 9:19 AM. I was going to see if he posted anything today before PMing him, I don't think he'll sell out in one day. Well I sure hope not anyway.

If you look at the laptop market today, most laptops use U CPUs which, while certainly lengthens the battery life, does not give a performance advantage over the normal wattage Sandy Bridge CPU in the T420s. As we all know, the T420s has the last usable keyboard. By now, it's stupid cheap as well. So, upgraded to FHD it is literally the best laptop right now. Given all that and your post which said you have 35-40 and then that's it for the year I am surprised you only got 33 PMs...

It is possible to modify a T430s to use a T420s keyboard:
http://www.thinkpads.com/forum/viewtopi ... 9&t=120776
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Install_C ... roller_Mod

I have not decided yet. Maybe I can manage to adjust to chicklet and backlighted keys, but it both looks and feels wrong...

If RMSMajestic had more kits available I would have ordered 2 kits, but with limited numbers we must restrain ourselves.
My wife has never complained about TN-quality, but I am spoiled with IPS and high resolution.
My daily driver T61 has 52% more pixels than FHD.

My apologies upfront for asking this, but are we required to send you a PM or does buying and paying for the kit on eBay suffice?

I bought and paid for the kit today (20th of May) like it was stated in the eBay description, but when I read the posts in this topic, it seems that this might not be enough?

Or is the PM only required to get the additional discount? (Which I don't feel entitled to since I just joined this board today of course:) ).

If you bought the kit on eBay you don't have to send any PM in this forum, all is handled on eBay and you will probably receive your kit at the same time as us. The benefit with buying it here through PM is reduced price compared to the eBay auction.

I think it depends on what your definition of "considerably" is...

As a previous poster pointed out...someone estimated IPS panel use 15% more power vs TN panels...

And having done the IPS screen mod on my T430s, yes - I have noticed a faster drain on my battery.

However, a few things about my scenario:

1. My T430s is a refurb which came with a used battery, so battery life probably wasn't the greatest (condition is good, too lazy to run the battery check on the # of cycles)
2. T430s battery doesn't have a large capacity to begin with given its slimmer form factor - so battery life was never a T430s strong suit
3. You can purchase a ultrabay battery (3cell) for the T430s to increase battery life (approx. $75 USD for an original Lenovo battery - perhaps cheaper if generic brand)

So far, I am pretty happy with the battery life of my T430s after the screen mod AND I have to say, IPS is waayyyyyyy better than the original TN 1600 x 900 panel. I would definitely sacrifice a less battery life for a better screen any day!

Thanks! Will send seller a message.

UPDATE: just ordered the panel, hope it' legit. The seller indeed answered within minutes and confirmed that they have a matte B140HAN01.2 in stock and can ship it.

UPDATE 2: I have recieved the panel today, took it about 2 weeks to arrive and took the seller about 5 days to ship it. It seems to be new and genuine 1.2: it has factory protection film on it with matte screen underneath it and it looks pretty much like the one at panelook.com with all the stickers in place etc.
I can't test it at the moment because the kit RMSMajestic sent me is still in the mail, but I will post an update when it arrives.

UPDATE 3: After finally performing the mod I can say that the panel is genuine B140HAN01.2. It's new, works great and has zero dead pixels/subpixels. Windows 7 identifies it as "Wide viewing angle & High density FlexView Display 1920x1080", while HWiNFO shows "Lenovo (Unknown model: LEN40A3)" in addition to B140HAN01.2.
