A controller board may work, but I fitted my "free" BOE in a used T440s I purchased two days ago.
As there is no custom adapter I had no compatibility issues in my T440s, now I have a nice IPS FHD display instead instead of the original TN HD+.
Now i am waiting for a T450s touchpad ordered on eBay, as the original T440s touchpad (without buttons) is next to useless.

T440s has no optical drive, so I am still waiting for the adapter kit to do the FHD upgrade on my T430s with BluRay drive.

Any news on T430 non-s boards, except that they are still being debugged? Is there any interest in further development of such a board or they are likely never to be available again?

Indeed, unfortunately most of the sellers have this disclaimer or even say "compatible'' screen in the title.

So I contacted the seller, and unfortunately he does not have the 1.1, 1.2 or 1.3 in stock.
And the alternative that would be shipped was a non-IPS panel. So again one to avoid.

B140HAN01.0 and B140HAN01.3 are glossy (specified as "glare" in the description) and B140HAN01.1 and B140HAN01.2 are matte (specified as "antiglare" in the description). Everything else is on the conscience of each particular seller I suppose.

I'm not sure how B140HAN01.2 could be either matte or glossy though, as it should be matte only. Wrong label maybe?

Take what the eBay sellers say with a grain of salt. The panelook.com linked above says the truth

I have several of these modded Thinkies, one 1.0 in a T420, a 1.1 and a 1.2 in my both T420s respectively and a 1.2 in my T430.

The glossy panel is very bright, I tend to like the matte surfaces more, but the 1.0 I have left me dumbstruck with its brilliance and color reproduction (Unfortunately the picture I mentioned before was from a 1.2 panel Nevertheless, just for the record you can see the pic here: click me!)

That does look good

I found an auction for a Dell Inspiron 7437 pull, that says 1.0 & Glossy. I've emailed a bunch of people on eBay from China and they all say "Matte" for the 1.3! Very very confusing, most auctions also say "compatible" model.

Sounds like the 1.0 is fine as long as one does color calibration?

Well, each panel is different, so I can't rule out a calibration, you may find available profiles in the web though...

Again, don't trust so much what sellers say in terms of spec, sometimes they just copy/paste texts from other auctions.

And if the word "compatible" is written anywhere in the auction then you have to contact the seller and ask exactly which model they offer.

Also check that the seller has good feedback and that is a long time seller.

I have a hardware calibrator and will calibrate the 1.2 (matte) panel when I recieve it and complete the mod. I will upload the ICC profile and post a link here for download. Although each particular panel is a little different, the profile will, hopefully, give all other 1.2 owners better results than no calibration at all.

I doubt you could use that profile with 1.0 though, as Tasurinchi's photos show that two panels have very different color reproduction.

Oh, it makes all the difference :)

But I still don't think that 1.0 and 1.2 would have similar color rendering, at least because of the different surface. But we can still try and see how it turns out.

EDIT: I did a live chat and they said I would receive an LG LP140WF1-SPU1 if I ordered the above part. LOL Man alive and that's one of the ones listed as not compatible om RMS' ebay auction!

The used Dell Pull looks tempting, but the guy said it may show signs of "cosmetic wear", so probably has scratches..

Anyone have a link of a valid eBayer that sells what they say they do I've emailed about 10 people now. Painful.

I'm not sure if my T430s has a faulty DVD-R but I would like BluRay capability

Sometimes glossy feels better and clearer. It depends on your environment but I did love the ChromeBook Pixel panels I've came across. Gloss is a bother when I'm not in my room, but I haves problem with that on non glossy panels

I'm sorry, I misunderstood I thought you were shipping them from the US, thanks for the reply.

I received my kit in Norway today.
Tested OK with the AUO display, but I have not tested my spare BOE display yet.
Will test the BOE during assembly of my T430s, now it is in parts all over my table.


#Saucey, the Serial Ultrabay Slim Blu-Ray drive 45N7459 from Lenovo will fit all "new" models from T400 to T430s.
I bought mine on eBay for about $100, and the required software for film playback is not free either...
Chromebook Pixel display is even better with a matte film added in my opinion. I added an anti glare film as a test, and it stays on my screen.


Edit: BOE NV140FHM-N41 is NOT compatible with this kit, but it works fine in my T440s.

I did not expect the package to be that small, at first I thought I received another screen protector for my smartphone.

Quick question though, the main board seems fairly straight forward to install, but what's with the 3 pieces of tape?
In the ebay listing it said that a short manual was going to be shared with me via mail, but I did not receive anything.
Anyone care to share the manual with me?


In any case, I will have to wait with installing the mod until wednesday when my new keyboard arrives.

Are the 3 pieces of tape black?

If I remember correctly, it is to hold down the cable...

Here is a list of tape I remember:

1. Regular scotch tape on the bottom of the chip to hold it down
2. A square piece of tape under the keyboard (prevent interference or something)
3. 3 piece of black tape to hold down the cable

For instructions, RMSMajestic will send via email.
