I did not expect the package to be that small, at first I thought I received another screen protector for my smartphone. :P

Quick question though, the main board seems fairly straight forward to install, but what's with the 3 pieces of tape?
In the ebay listing it said that a short manual was going to be shared with me via mail, but I did not receive anything.
Anyone care to share the manual with me?

In any case, I will have to wait with installing the mod until wednesday when my new keyboard arrives.

Thanks!

Could you please let me know your paypal email?
I've change the procedure a bit, buyer let me know upon receiving the kit and I'll send the guide afterwards.
It'd be easier for me to keep track of things in this way.

Really looking forward to seeing how the 1080p screens play out for the T430. Any updates?

Got my kit in today - and all I can say is WOW, it's TINY. I expected it to be bigger for some reason.

Once RMSMajestic sends me the guide (PMed already), I'll work on installation later this week and post results.

Hi all, long time lurker of this site but now finally signed up. I want to say thanks RMSMajestic for this kit, luckily for me it arrived the same time as I got my AUO B140HAN01.2 screen from China (talk about timing!) and my goodness it's glorious. It's a bit odd for me because I've got so used to having poor TN screens with ThinkPads so this is a refreshing change! :D

To help those looking for this panel I bought this on AliExpress from this seller - http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Brand-ne ... 97396.html, the panel was perfect and is a genuine Lenovo screen (comes up as Lenovo LEN40A3 under HWInfo, panel label is FRU: 04X5379) so you can add this one to the approved sellers list if you like.

However I'm having trouble on fitting the keyboard back in the base with the IPS mod kit in so I probably need instructions to see if I had fitted it in correctly. RMSMajestic if you can PM the correct fitting instructions then it would be appreciated - thank you! :3

Edit: Turns out I had a derp moment and got the keyboard in fine now. The whole system now is complete! :)

The pic is quite grainy, but did you manage to put this kit in the t420?
If yes, how did you solve the flickering issue? Was your t420 affected at all?

cheers!

Just signed up to ask this :D

The kit is for the T420s and not the T420, plus it won't work because the pinouts are different from what I've read. The OP is still working to get this mod working for the standard T420 models however so we just have to wait for further news.

I think cpt.ramius may be referring to the fact that in the picture it looks like it says "t420" on the screen bezel. Since you were piecing together parts perhaps it is a t420s with a t420 bezel around the screen?

Ah yes, I've just salvaged a T420 LED plate onto the T420s LCD bezel as it didn't come with one when I bought the part. But it is a T420s just to clear things up.

Trusted by the miltary when they need to wip drives.
Trusted by businessesd with highly sensitive information.
Trusted by paranoid schizos selling computer parts.

Do you need any more recommendations that that?

Why not spend an extra 9-10 hours doing a Department of Dependse approved hard drive wipe instead of the ol' blast it with a bunch of 0's. You know several layers of reformatting on magnetic media can be re-assembeld right?

That looks fantastic ji2o0k. I cancelled a deal on a T430 specifically because you can't do what you did to your T430s to it. I've got my T430s arriving Monday and fully expect to do this upgrade as soon as new kits become available.

it is very incredible the upgrade and modded IPS panel....

I am even more crazy....I had a T430 but with the 1337 x 768 TN panel and it was soooooo bad.....

So - I decided to sell the T430, pick up a T430s and got the mod kit from RMSMajestic and a Grade A used AUO panel from ebay and did the screen mod...

Now I have the T430s with the beautiful IPS panel and excellent resolution 1920 x 1080.....loaded with 16GB of ram, 512GB SSD....

Next up will be the Classic keyboard install (I have the keyboard already....just lazy to do the swap)......then my laptop will be perfect!

I am planning to do the same thing. Just max out the T430s in every way, it'll be perfect ;)

I've also managed to successfully do the mod. Thank you RMSMajestic. I've bought the AU Optronics B140HAN01.2 screen many months after actually buying the modding kit.
The screen per someone's recommendation was bought from bumblesale from UK (ebay), and the screen is beyond reproach, and it is in fact Optronics, with excellent colours.

The only issue is that after a number of days (4) since the installation, I've got a sudden loss of picture. Only from browsing. Only a very thin interrupted red line on the left side was signaling that the screen was on. I interpret it as a sudden loss of signal? Interference? After a forced reboot, things got back to normal. Should I expect more of this? Any perspectives as to how to immunize the system for the future?

I realize this is getting off topic for this thread but the classic keyboard mod doesn't totally work with the t430s, right? The keyboard doesn't seat properly without permanently changing the t430s and the indication lights don't work at all. Neither does the backlight, if there even is a backlight.

I don't have this issue (**knock on wood**). Did you use all the stickers that came with the kit? Esp. the interference sticker under the keyboard?

Mine has been stable - luckily...were you running the laptop for a long time?

You need to remove a few tabs on the actual keyboard but not on the laptop.

The 7th row keys on the Classic keyboard won't work and you can use a software mapping program to map some keys.

I think there is some firmware you can flash the laptop to make the keys work but I am sticking with the easy way and using software to map the keys..

Actually I have used the computer at length. It's usually the case, but at the time, the computer hadn't run more than 4 hours, (with the screen on). I have only placed one gray thermal sticker on the keyboard just above the converter board, and the connecting film has a line of 0.5 millimeter on it's length because I couldn't cover all the film with the insulation tape. Afterwards I covered the 99.8% insulated film with acid-free transparent tape (was not provided, but mentioned in the guide). The other gray stickers I didn't know where to place, as I couldn't find any specific recommendation. Do you have any ideas as to where to place the other remaining stickers (I was left with two thermal stickers, 1 leftover piece of conductive tape)?

Installed B140HAN01.2 into my t430s today with this kit and it's flickering at any of the 3-4 highest brightness settings. Yes I have a t430s. Yes I installed the driver. Sticker on display looked legit. I even pulled it back and found nothing saying it wasn't genuine.

Anybody else have flickerin with t430s and this kit?

EDIT:

It's the weirdest thing, but 10 minutes after install, the flickering went away 100%. Might have been the cathodes in the backlight as it was sitting for some time? Don't know, but all is well, in fact PERFECT. Thanks RMS Majestic!

Thank you RMSMajestic!

Got my kit yesterday and screen from Amazon (went with B140HAN01.2 from East Coast LCDs, but received a B140HAN01.3)

Sorry, forgot to take before pics.

That looks great vinnyoflegend!

I'm having trouble working out the kinks with the EDID injection in Yosemite (blank screen, can control the backlight, and the injection looks to have the correct EDID device and vendor ID's)
Are you using Clover and the insanelymac install?

Might use this as an excuse to upgrade the machine to El Capitan.

Absolutely amazing in Windows and Ubuntu though!

Thank you RMSMajestic!
