Thank god I found this forum! I got a T420s this weekend but it turns out it doesn't even output the 1600x900 resolution. So if I'm going to have to open her up anyways, might as well go FHD. Do you know when the kits for the T420s will be available again?

Want to purchase the non (s) kit for the T420, when it becomes available.

Hey all, I got my panel installed along with the converter board in my T430s. Mine was a pull from a Dell Inspiron 7437 LCD Screen Panel 1D28M FHD, it's labelled on the back as AU Opitronics "B140HAN01.0" and is glossy. Manufactured 13/48

This thing rocks. The screen is night and day different vs the old POS! (Well mine cracked about 3 months ago, but I do remember how crappy it was).

However I've noticed on boot into Win 7, as well as anything with a dark (black) boarder. There's backlight bleed! It goes up the screen about 1" and is the worst right above the lenovo logo. There's also some in the middle. Is something pressing on the screen? Or is this to be expected?

FYI. I don't see this bleed while using windows normally

Welcome to IPS land. It's a trade off that you accept, and learn to ignore very quickly. Google "IPS Glow" to get more info, but it's part of the technology at this point. Everything has a trade off it seems! (But I'll take it over crappy TN!)

Looks like I'm set! I just wanted to make sure it was nothing I did during the assembly. I made sure all the wires were laying flat etc. And I never touched the "Do not touch"

I've taken ThinkPads apart since 2000 so this was quite easy for me.

I agree this screen blows the original away. I wasn't sure how I would like the higher resolution but it's so sharp it's fine!

I made a profile using my X-rite i1Display during assembly. And just went to redo it, after complete assembly but it's no longer detected! Once I get that replaced I'll post up a .0 profile if anyone else needs it. Out of the box this .0 screen had a green hue.

I just put a B140HAN01.0 on mine, and would really appreciate the profile when you get the chance!

It's a phenomenal screen, lucked out buying used on eBay with virtually no backlight bleed.

I highly recommend using DisplayCAL (http://displaycal.net/) for this purpose as it's much, much more sophisticated than the original X-Rite software (i1 Match). And it's also free and open source.

If you make a profile for .0 panel and I make one for .2, then we would have all the owners covered! :) Presuming that the color difference between .0 and .3 /.1 and .2 is negligible of course.
My kit is still in the mail for some reason, so it'll be some time before I can post a profile for .2 display.

The converter works great my T430s looks wonderful with its new IPS panel!

Just finished up with the .3 matte panel and everything works great! I found it to be a fun and rewarding project

Ahhhh you guys are killing me. I want this panel bad...but he isn't doing them right now.

Can anybody from the UK suggest me a seller for a matte IPS panel? Preferably on ebay.

This one claims they have exact AUO screens.

It's a simple process, instructions are usually included.

Don't get your hopes up for a t420s bios. The link there does not work, nor does any other you can find in the internet. I ended up getting modded BIOS from Oleh. I had to pay for it, but boy, the amount of new features it has I will probably be discovering for years to come. And apart from the Advanced Menu, I got unlocked RAM frequency, unlocked AES, whitelists removed and new intel Vbios, to name the main features.

If you don't fancy paying someone for things they have gathered around, re-applied and charged someone for, HERE is my post on bios-mods with 1.41 modded with all what the infamous Oleh has to offer.

Thank you for sharing your work! The updated vbios is great, bootup screens/logos look much better

How is the availability of the T430s kits?

Try asking them if they have it in stock

Can this mod work with the t520?

I've been following this thread since I first ordered my T420. Just made an account so I can be ready when they are available. I am interested in the nonS kit.

The best models you can get are the AUO B156HW01 V4 (matte) or its glossy counterpart B156HW01 V7.

There are other models that would work but they're of inferior quality. I'd rather stick to the above ones.

Is there a T420 version on this? Oleh had one it looks like, but I don't see another in the links.

Thanks to RMSMajestic, I did the 1080p IPS mod on my T430s. Installed the converter board and new LCD panel, B140HAN01.2. It's pretty amazing. It's so much better than the stock model I can't believe they had the audacity to actually sell that.

At least with the T430s, resolution is 1600 x 900.....

The T430 with 1337 x 768 resolution is just insane!!

I had the T430 and had to sell it due to the poor resolution and screen!
