Please add me to the list of people interested in a T420s upgrade. Two in fact! I love the 7 row keyboard and want to keep two T420s' going for as long as possible... until Lenovo goes back to these awesome keyboards.

The WQHD kit sounds very interesting as well, as long as we can find a reliable source of wide gamut LCDs. :)

I have a t430s which is hoping I don't exchange it for a newer model just to get a screen I can live with. Looking forward to hearing about availability!

Hey there,

I have recently got my hands on a T430s and would also be very interested in purchasing your kit to upgrade the screen to the 1080 (or 2k if they become available) screens.

Please add me to the waiting list! :)

Cheers,

Dave

I don't believe there is a wait list. You have to keep an eye on this thread for when he is ready again.

Probably, we want a little bit of confidence, in the fact that we get this miracle of technology when new batch is arrives and we are finally able to use our favorite laptops with IPS displays :)

Hi all,

Looking for a bit of help. I purchased a B140HAN01.3 and installed the LCD + kit into my T420s with NVS Optimus, Intel HD3000+NVS4200M
The screen brightness doesn't seem to behave as it begins flickering when I lower it from 100% brightness. It also occasionally flickers at 100% brightness.

I can always see the actual image, so it's just the backlight control that is misbehaving.

Windows 10 64-bit
Intel HD Graphics 3000 driver 2015-05-27 version 9.17.10.4229
NVIDIA NVS 4200M driver 2015-11-05 version 10.18.13.5445

I tried changing the PCB and it did help - the first one I installed would either be on at 100% or off at anything less. The brightness behaves strangely, sometimes one click down from 100% will be off, sometimes it will flicker a little, or sometimes it will flicker a lot.

Not sure if changing the LCD cable will help? I made sure not to route it under the roll cage and I was very careful with routing it through the hinge to not pinch it.

The 1.3 panel is also not as nice as the older one I have in my T440s. I feel like its matte coating is more grainy and the colours wash out sooner than on the Lenovo OEM version.

I bought this panel:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/191910227151

EDIT: I just tested and it flickers in BIOS screen as well, after leaving it on for about 3-5 minutes.

EDIT2: Reseated everything, including the LCD connector (rather than just at the adapter board). Working well now! Very happy that this panel is flicker free (NO PWM for brightness control) using this adapter board.

That eBayer has B140HAN01.3 in the title, but everywhere else is B140HAN01.2
What did it say on the back of the panel?

I received a matte 3. It does not have a Lenovo FRU but rather a Dell Part Number 0M1WHV.

I'm confused. Why is the converter board $750? Will the price change when a new shipment comes in?

Edit: I understand now. I would also like to buy a converter board, when they become available!

Hi!

I would be interested in a board for my T430 non-S. Especially, since my ugly display is already going haywire - one pixel column is failing from time to time....

Thanks for further investigation and tinkering in advance!

Hi, I'm also interested in order this kit, in taobao.com there is also the full kit https://world.taobao.com/item/520044762 ... kzG#detail someone had some experience with this seller?
FYI: since Majestic isn't brokering kits for now, and I picked up another machine to mod (t430s i7 thunderbolt), I decided to order this through a taobao broker (taobaoring, to translate in case of problems). I received it from the above seller today, and installed it and everything looks good to go, but I would not recommend it unless you really know what you're doing.

1. Going through taobao direct is tricky if you don't speak Chinese (I don't) and tricky to make payments too.
2. It actually ends up costing a bit more or a wash. I think with the screen it was $150 usd.
3. 10% handling fees, paypal fees, shipping fees.
4. Possible communication breakdown (the seller didn't have .3 screens, but offered a .2 screen instead, which was OK, but have no idea how I would have done the back and forth without a middleman)
4. Majestic is a stand-up fellow, and trustworthy. His kits have all been nicely presented.
5. My package arrived fine, worked, but I question their ESD precautions (there were none, as far as I could tell). Kit didn't have that really sticky black tape, so I'm glad I had spares.

That said, it worked out great in the end. About 10 days from order to receipt, with a few days of holding my breath. That said, I now have a t430s that looks fabulous with a .2 screen, fresh battery, and classic keyboard. Thunderbolt, too, neat! :-).

I found a seller on taobao who is doing a 2k mod for all versions t420, t430 and -s models https://world.taobao.com/item/437794738 ... 0.0.wrCx0x( I figured out from the title). I don't speak chinese and it's hard for me to understand if he is a trusty seller and if this mod is a kit or the buyer has to send the laptop to him to make the mod. Maybe someone can figure this out.

P.S: I have a t430s model and I would like to know what screen fits better with the FHD 1080p mod? I read here a few guys had problems with some recommended screens versions and I do not know exactly what to choose: .0, .1, .2 or .3 version of the screen ( glossy if possible).

I also bought 2x B140HAN01.3 - also pulled from a recycler from Dell E7440s and both are matte\anti-glare....

Fits beautifully - though now I am thinking I should have a got a glossy version to compare with the matte....wondering if glossy would be close to the Apple screens in terms of how it looks?

Not a bad price for a 2K mod - Parts + Labor I presume. I'd love that.

hi,
i live in hanoi and i got fhd kit from the last batch. it runs fine on recently acquired t420s with 2540m except it took me 3 attempts on install properly.
1. didn't taped ribbon cable
2. applied thermal pad under the kit, directly on cpu cooler backplate (WRONG!)
3. finally applied some duct tape all around the kit board itself and two thermal pads on keyboard

so two questions:
- why don't we have guide publicly available? i got it by time and trial.
- can we buy exactly the same ribbon cable, edp cable and thermal pads/tape separately? just in case we damage old ones (not sure if old thermal pads will come off easily on keyboard replacement.

- can we buy exactly the same ribbon cable, edp cable and thermal pads/tape separately? just in case we damage old ones (not sure if old thermal pads will come off easily on keyboard replacement.
You can buy ribbon cable on ebay/aliexpress. Look for '40p 0.5mm ffc 40mm' (I don't remember the length, so put the correct value instead of 40mm). Same applies for pads and tape.
As for eDP cable - it's custom made, so this is the case when you have to ask Javi-Jie or RMSMajestic.
