T520 touchpad is slow
T520 touchpad is slow
The touchpad of the T520 is a tad slow, (even scrolling).
I have already set the speed to maximum in control panel, and it is not enough.
lowering the resolution (from 1920x1080 to 1366x768) result in the speed being much better, because the mouse has less pixels to go through.
Increasing the DPI scaling to 150% also helps allot and result in similar behavior to increasing resolution.
Running in Linux Mint, out of the box, the touch pad is as fast as the fastest speed in windows, .. in Linux Mint after setting speed close to maximum it becomes amazing, and also scrolling is great without any modification (comparing firefox in both OSes).
Ideally, the idea is to be able to go across the screen quickly while moving on the touchpad not more than 2cm, unless serious precision is required.
Since increasing DPI scaling affects the speed somehow in windows, there must a way to make it faster without increasing DPI ?

It is installed, with sensitivity set to maximum too.pianowizard wrote:Make sure Lenovo's UltraNav driver is installed:

Re: T520 touchpad is slow
I haven't used a Thinkpad with a touchpad in a long time, so I can't look through all the driver settings for you. One thing is certain though: you can set how fast the touchpad scrolls, e.g. 3 lines of text per scroll versus 5 lines of text. You just have to look around for that setting.

Re: T520 touchpad is slow
I did change rows per scroll from 3 to 5, it helped a bit.
But remain the issue of the speed of moving.
I think I tried all options, nothing set the speed to as fast as I hope except setting DPI scalling to 150%, so I am trying to find a registery edit in synaptics or something similar, to make it as if DPI scalling is set that high all the time.

Re: T520 touchpad is slow
Have you tried unchecking the "Enhance pointer precision" box underneath the pointer speed control? I suspect that when you tried Linux, that option wasn't automatically enabled, and so the pointer moved much faster.
I like the touchpad fast too, but sounds like you like it even faster. Slow touchpads are awful.
