Recovery media, USB external hard drive does not boot

#1 Post by oliversl » Thu Jul 23, 2015 11:48 am

Hi,
I just created the recovery media using an external USB hard drive on a T410i. But the notebook does not boot from that external USB hard drive after selecting it in the F12 menu.

Any tips on making it boot from USB recovery media?

Thanks
Oliver

Did you go into the Bios setup and select USB as a valid boot? There are a number of Options, be sure you know what you are doing and then make sure its Save and Exit when your done.
I personally have never booted from a USB disk properly prepared but others here do it all the time.

Tks,
My solution was to run:
1. elavated cmd
2. diskpart
3. select disk 1
4. list disk
5. clean
6. exit

Then format as exFAT and create the recovery media. Now its booting.
