Relatively new to T500's. I have changed out screens and complete lids on lesser thinkpads.
I see some new and used 1920x1200 resolution screens available for purchase.
What issues should I be aware of when trying to upgrade a T500 from 1680x1050, or 1280x800, to the 1920x1200?
Is a T500 screen compatible with a 42X4642?
Any other parts needed to be changed with the screen?

The 1920x1200 screen FRUs for the W500 are plug compatible. There are no issues. Personally, I like them, including the Samsung, but Akajula will disagree with me. They are dimmer than the 1680x1050 screen, suitable only for indoor use. But the black levels are excellent. In my highly personal opinion, they are better in many ways than the screens found on many 14" Thinkpads. Viewing angle and black level are superior. Brightness is not.

Color calibration with the Spyder 4 display calibrator indicates that subjective impressions to the contrary, the color gamut of the Samsung 1920x1200 screen is about as good, or bad, as other TFT displays. Calibrated, it delivers about 59% of Adobe RGB, typical for the TFT panels of the era. Calibrated, it looks good -- maybe even good enough for Akajula.

T500 is a prime candidate for the superior Sharp WUXGA.

I did it, typing on it right now. No issues so far (5-6 months) whatsoever :)

I have changed the 15.4-inch, 16M colors, WXGA (1280 × 800 resolution) TFT color LCD /Samsung LTN154X3-L02/ with 15.4-inch, 16M colors, WUXGA (1920 × 1200 resolution) TFT color LCD /Samsung LTN154U2-L05/ from a broken T61. No problems at all, works great. 8)
