Hi, I'm advancing like hell in my ThinkPad collection, just few weeks ago I used my old T43, since yesterday its a T420.
I loved my former R60 especially of my Bluetooth mouse, Razer Pro|Click - still searching for a good price of a ThinkPad Laser BT mouse.

I wonder how can i upgrade my T420 to have BT, I'm full/total n00b in this questions (I can install even modify a system, disassemble and clean any laptop) but which solution is easier, either swap the wifi/bt module with R60 (I dont care abt wifi n) or add something to enable BT on my T420. Its a simple model just a i5 with Intel HD, 4GB and a 850 EVO.

Thanks in advance and I hope this time i will stay longer in a sub forum :P

Get the T420 manual from our HMM link, it has all the info you need.
It requires a specific cable (item 27 on partslist) under the palmrest, plus the BT module (28).

Thank you for your answer, I got all the numbers but it seems that theses parts are very difficult to get in my region. Will keep looking for it.

You could also look into flashing a no-whitelist BIOS and putting in an Intel wifi card with BT (7265 and 7260 immediately come to mind). There are probably other cards with BT out there.

<- running an Intel 7260AC in his T420

Thx but... there's always a but, I know i'm too much retro and i will use a 2.0 BT device, which maybe will not be able to connect to w 4.0 BT, a 3.0 is in my knowledge a maximum protocol.

BT 4.0 (not including BLE/Bluetooth low-energy) is backwards-compatible with older BT standards.

i've got a solution, it was so obvious that pls be kind with me, I knew that the BT in T420 is under the palmrest, i knew its connected with the touchpad/FP ribbon, what i DIDNT KNOW its not ON the main-board but UNDER the palmrest, and end of ribbon with nothing at the end was not the missing link to BT but to the FP. ME n00b .
