T520 Windows 7, SD Memory Card Not Working

Guys, I tried to Search but SD is to short and I can't get it to Search for the entire sentence.
I am sure this has been asked before that's why I hate to ask, I have never tried to have the computer read a SD card, and now I am getting started with a Raspberry Pi and need to write to and format one.
I have a USB Universal SD reader that when plugged into a standard USB port sees the card just fine.
But when plugged into the ThinkPad port, nothing no beep, blip or anything. Control Panel, Device Manager nothing. My Bluetooth works fine.
So where do I start? If someone can post a Link or give some advice I would appreciate it. Thank you.

No one has ever had an issue with a ThinkPad seeing or recognizing a SD Card? So I am the only one with this question... no wonder nothing came up on a Search.

Try ScheißDigital.
Something similar was discussed previously in X sub-forum, '
x220 sd carder-reader strange Windows behavior'.

Device manager. Leave Card out of it. Is there not a device node in your devmgmt for Ricoh … Card Reader/Controller? If not, then problem. Try Safe Mode. Still no node? If not, then problem.
I do not know what Ricoh chip is in T520, and I do not fully trust PCI ID to identify hardware. The Ricoh PCIe chips have multiple personalities—they change identity when fiddled by driver. Different revisions of driver, will differently twiddle the device. Whichever Ricoh chip is in X220, can be influenced to identify as 1180:e823 rev 04 and 1180:e822 rev 07. I assume those two different device IDs are for two different ScheißDigital versions: e822 is a SD2 interface, and e823 is a SD3 interface. Looking on Debian Wiki, the Ricoh chip in T520 can act as
two revisions of one device ID!
1180:e823 rev 05
1180:e823 rev 08
2015-09-15 edit: thank you for moving this discussion to T series sub-forum. I repeat: start Windows in Safe Mode. Look in Device Manager for something like "SD Class Controller" or "Ricoh SD Host Controller" or "SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controller" or " Ricoh SD Bus Host Adapter". If you do not know what you are looking for, then search WWW for (Device Manager Ricoh SD) images.
2015-09-16 edit: I am a harsh meanie, I made an accusation based on my imagination. This edit removes that accusation.
2015-10-08 edit: I am stupid, I waste time, I find three more IDs.
1180:e823 rev 07
1180:e822 rev 05
1180:e822 rev 08

I went to Lenovo and downloaded what was suppose to be the correct driver, no help. I am assuming at one time when this machine was new it worked but its had a new HD installed by the PO and I am not sure what happened. I have not needed the Reader until now, and it would be nice for working with my Raspberry Pi project.
It does not show as a Device in the Control panel.
I am not sure what you mean about posting in the wrong forum?

Well I took the memory card out to my other Thinkpad the W500 in the shop and it worked fine, and the one I have on my 3D printer worked fine in the W500 and LOL worked fine in this T520. So this T520 must have a selective card reader.
Thanks for all the help guys.
PS This was posted in the T520 forum to begin with, I don't think it was ever moved????

Possibilities:
1. Card reader is disabled in the BIOS
2. Defective card reader hardware
3. Drivers not installed
4. Dirty card reader slot

It works fine with a different memory card. So that rules out 1-4... Never the less I am going to clean the slot in this T520

It's not the same system, but I have a T510 that lost the card reader slot and had to reload the driver. It did recognize it at first, but somehow lost the connection with the driver.
It's working fine again.

Well I did download and install that new driver but I was still using that SD I used at the beginning. Now I find the SD card from the shop W500 system and TAZ 5 3D printer works fine in this one??? I know I have a couple more adapters around some place that takes those little cards, I can't find any now!!
Anyway thanks for taking the time to reply. I am going to clean the card slot in this computer tomorrow.

Thanks for taking care of it. I must have been using the Ipad and you know its hard to find your glasses when you need them!
