T420 Won't Wake Up

It's a very rare occasion I can get my T420 to wake from sleep. Whether I close the laptop regardless of AC adapter state, or it goes into sleep mode because the battery level has gotten too low, it has about a 1/10 chance of not getting stuck in sleep mode.

If it's because I closed it while plugged it or the battery is fine, I find if I wait about 30 seconds and then open it again I have a good shot at getting back in. Too quick and it gets stuck. I've never tried between about a minute and a couple hours but if it's closed for a couple hours, no good.

If it's because it ran out of battery, I have to plug it in, wait for the power button light to blink about a couple times, and then hold it firmly for a second. Then I get back in every time. But if I do it immediately or let it stay like that for too long I can't get in.

A long time ago I flashed a modded BIOS to allow other wireless cards. I never ended up replacing the wifi card so I would inot be surprised if it was the modded BIOS, but I am curious if any other T420 owners experience this.

It has been happening for a long time but out of habit I don't like to let laptops sleep while I don't use them for a while, I always shut down and reboot later, so it's not been that terrible an issue to me aside from when I accidentally let it sleep or mess up the wake up process.

If your system is in sleep mode, pressing the Fn key for a second or two should wake it up again. How are you trying to bring the system out of sleep? Granted, if you close the lid and the system is set to sleep, it should wake up when the lid is opened but maybe something is not working right there.

Thanks for the FN key tip, i'll try that next time normal wakeup doesn't work.
Trust me, i'm trying to bring the system out of sleep every way possible before I give up and shut down.
