T510 LCD Question

So I love my T410 very, very much. But I want more screen space but I do not want 16:9 ratio.

So it would appear that the T510 is what I am looking at. What is the best LCD in terms of viewing angles, brightness and resolution that is available? The machines themselves seem pretty cheap on e-bay.

T510 is 16:9. T410 is of course 16:10 ratio. You have to go back to a T500 or T61 for 16:10 at 15.4" screen.

Correct.

The best screen that one can find for T510 is FHD (1920x1080) panel that was kept throughout *20 and early *30 generation as well.

If you choose to go for a T/W 500, LG Philips is better than the Samsung one, BUT the Sharp WUXGA one - originally from Dell and not a factory option - beats both of them. Significantly so.

Ugh, 16:9.

That's one of the main things that I love about my T410 and why it's so hard for me to find a suitable upgrade from it. I don't really need to upgrade as the machine handles everything I throw at it. I do wish the LCD had better viewing angles though.

I'm actually kind of relieved about the T510 though. I don't really want one.

Now the X301 on the other hand....I've been thinking about picking one of them up for months. I've read all the reviews, watched the video's, and even looked at high res photos of it. I know it's not as powerful as my T410. But I feel like it's calling to me. Weird, I know. I get very attached to tech.

Ask me about how I feel about the PowerMac 8500 sometime. :)

I'd argue that the X30* units sport - by far - the most expensive feel out of anything that has Lenovo logo on it. The only letdowns are the lousy LCD - not much worse than what you'd normally find on a T410 - and battery life. Other than that, it's a fantastic little machine.

You forgot to mention the lack of a docking port, the low performance, the flex of the keyboard, the missing SD card reader and the lack of USB 3 ports... I owned two X301 and one X300 - I really love the design, but the machines just had too many disadvantages :/

OK...which part of "the most expensive feel" have you not understood?

I was *not* talking about performance. Just in case that I need to spell that out.

I have yet to see any type of keyboard flex in a X30* system and have gone through many of them.

BTW, which laptop from that era had USB 3.0? Right.

I referred to your statement "Other than that, it's a fantastic little machine", just in case you didn't notice that.
In my opinion, it unfortunately isn't that fantastic, that's all I wanted to say.

Too bad I don't own my X30* systems any more - one even had a new keyboard, but still all three machines suffered from some flex especially in the area of the keys W, E, S and D.

Never had that issue with any of X30* units and honestly don't recall it being mentioned before, but my memory is not all that great anymore.

My last X301 ended up with sarbin - whom I'm certain that you know - feel free to ask him if there's any flex. Maybe he'll see something that I haven't although I doubt it.

There is a miniPCI to 2xMicroSD adapter that I am looking at. I found this page which has a lot of good info on the X301:

and the adapter in question

@Temetka:
if you are indeed looking for a T500 with Sharp WUXGA (1920x1200) or an X300 or X301, I have them readily available!
PM me if interested.

That is why I went for the T61 and T500 machines. Because of the 16:10 15.4" screen.
