BluRay drives for T410 & T420

#1 Post by VanZan » Sun Oct 11, 2015 9:54 am

I'm looking for genuine Lenovo Blu ray drives for both my T410 & T420. I don't need a BD writer as I just want the ability to play BDs not burn them. Anyway for the T420 I ordered this on eBay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301656697066

I know it's a risk ordering from the Far East but their feedback is good and I couldn't find it available from US/EU sellers.

As regards the T410 then I bought:

back in 2014. It's a a Matshita UJ162 and it works fine but it doesn't say "Lenovo" anywhere on it and the eject button is a little strange but it does the job. However I'd prefer to have an official genuine Lenovo one. However I can't find one at all and was hoping someone might have a FRU for a Blu Ray reader drive for it?

Thanks for any feedback!

Don't go for a Lenovo T410 drive, they are notorious for accidentally touching the Open-button.

42T2605, though I suspect they'll be hard to find.

Actually thanks to a thread on this wonderful forum I got the idea to remove the faceplate from the original Lenovo T410 DVD-RW drive and put it on the Blu Ray one I got on eBay....and it works fantastically!! :D Delighted! No need to purchase a genuine Lenovo one now.....off to eBay to delete my saved search for it and count the money I saved! :)

Simple idea really that I embarrasingly never thought of until today.....hopefully the Blu drive I ordered for the T420 will be legit!
