More RAM

I bought a 16 GB kit of Corsair Vengeance Performance memory today from NewEgg for my T520. Ran about $84 and change. Latency is 9 with timings of 9-9-9-24, 1.35V.

I also ordered an external DVD burner so I could keep my old 500GB spinner in the Ultrabay slot. I wouldn't mind swapping them when I need the burner, but it's a PITA because it's not recognized during a hot swap and a re-boot is required.

If it weren't for the video capability, the Windows performance score would be a lot higher.

Well, those interested in *real* video performance are usually staying away from ThinkPads... :D

I have five other desktop systems for FS9. The Thinkpads are all utility systems.

Enjoy that T520 then without worrying about the - rather worthless IMO - WEI score. These machines will remain relevant for quite a few years to come when properly configured... :thumbs-UP:

My thinking exactly. It might be five years old, but it's still more powerful than my newest computer.

This is an i7 2.7Ghz machine with a 500 GB SSD, 500 GB 7200 rpm WDB, now 16 GB RAM, nice, but not top shelf 1600x900 HD+ screen, Smartcard slot and SD card slot, broadband micro SD slot, and new 9 cell Lenovo battery, Bluetooth, Centrino 6205, security chip, FPR, NVS 4200 video adapter.

I'm pretty pleased with it. As old Q would have said, 'fully loaded'.

I'll have the DVD burner at the ready, and I have another 160 GB drive in a caddy with Linux Zorin loaded and working well with the T520.
