ThinkPad T520 Tough Latch

I ordered my T520 i7 2620m 120GB OEM SSD from Illinois, came here in great condition (Other than someone ripping off the Product Key  )
The issue at hand is that about since day two of use the actual slider releasing the latch is ridiculously tight. You have to get a lot of force to get it to pop open and I'm worried sooner or later this is going to break something. Has anyone had any experience with this issue? I got my T520 coming from a T500 with major squishy keyboard syndrome (SKS) so I'd like this baby to last.
Thanks in advance :)

There might be something catching on the latch mechanism which runs from the bottom left of the palmrest to the bottom right. Take off the palmrest and see if there is anything causing the problem.

I took apart the palm rest. Nothing in there. I should have noted that once the lid is open the latch moves freely like a knife through butter. I've also found that often after that one tough snap of the latch I can close it and open it again with a lot less force. To your credit, whoever owned this had a completely loose keyboard screw hidden under the Ram bay, keyboard feels even more firm now. :)

If the lid latch moves freely after opening the lid, then the lid latches on the lid might be misaligned.

Can it be fixed?
