I forgot to mention that it freezes after every boot and then shuts down, i already changed the settings in the bios to use the intel card instead of the nvidia, but the problems persist.

I would start by removing the hard drive and booting the system with a memory diagnostic such as memtest86+. You can find several different boot versions here:

Bad battery can also cause freezes. Try also without battery.

maby due to windows 10 as the laptop was made in 2011 and would most likley only support up to winows 8 and possibly 8.1 so that causes their to be not all the drivers that make the laptop function fully. this can either lead to things not working properlly and cancause malfuntions to the laptop like you are experancing. i would recomend u get a usb flash drive with 8gb of memory or more and download windows 7 on it then make the t420 boot from it and install window 7 on the t420 as that is the operating system it came with in 2011 if u have a key for windows 7 enter it then you are good to go after getting all the nessersary things done go the the lenovo website and download all the drivers and make sure u have them ALL as this can cause the things that u are currently having to happen again. best of luck if u do this!
