T400 loses internet connection

Had set my T400 up in my brothers garage to provide music via Pandora. Noticed that it was losing internet connection and would give message to update Flash player or change browsers. I was using Firefox. It would not let me update Flash player. I switched to Internet Explorer and it played for awhile and would lose internet connection and would not allow me to update Flash player. I tried using Safari, with the same result as Firefox and IE. I did various things and determined that it was not the ethernet cable and it was not the internet service itself. I even re-installed Vista. I tried installing iTunes and it would not install. The version of iTunes was supposed to be specifically for XP and Vista, but after it refused to install, I checked the system requirements and it required Windows 7 or later. I concluded it must be Vista, somehow. But I have all these other laptops that have Vista, so figured I would check one of them. I set up my T61 and it performed flawlessly, played Pandora without any problems and updated Flash player, also with no problem at all. So now I'm thinking it's the laptop itself. But , I installed Google Chrome and it plays fine. I did notice thatwhen I plugged in the ethernet cord, it seemed to be a loose fit . Any ideas?

When you tried various things did you mean you tried the WiFi?

Seems like a long road ago, now, but think I did use the wifi ,here at my place, and it performed well.At this point, I have, I think, my number 3 T400 with Vista and Firefox hooked up. When I install Flash player on it, Firefox crashes, period. Total conflict. Did download and install Flash Player on one of my T400s without any problem and it performed well with Pandora. Probably a simple answer, I just don't have it.
