Thinkpad T420 - Intel/NVIDIA Windows 10 Windows Explorer crashing

#1 Post by rayonline » Fri Apr 22, 2016 10:44 pm

Hi all

I picked up a used Thinkpad T420. It came with Windows 7 and I used the free Windows 10 upgrade. Everything works fine except that the Windows Explorer (Library - My Computer etc ..) crashed every few minutes following by a screen flash.

I have the latest BIOS installed when it was running Windows 7. I have tried also tried to select Intel video card only or only the NVIDIA but it still crashes.

Any advice? Cheers.

Hey rayonline,

So did you work out your Win10 upgrade issues?

I also have a T410 (Win7 32-bit), thinking of upgrading to Win10, but not so sure if the NVIDIA NVS 3100m GPU 512MB would be supported?

Thanks in advance!

i would not recomend upgrading to windows 10 as most drivers for our t410's dont support it and wont run fully.

i would recomend you go back to windows 7 as it came with that so that the all drivers fully work and will stop all the crashes that you are currently accoring.

best of luck :)
