What Parts Will I Need To Change My T410 Intel HD Mobo With A Nvidia One?

#1 Post by TheMagicT410 » Sat Apr 23, 2016 10:03 am

Hello, i am soon planning on swaping My T410's Intel HD mobo with the NVIDIA Quadro NVS3100M one. i know i will need the Nvidia Motherboard and The other heatsink but when i look where the Nvidia gpu would be on my Intel Hd mobo i see a conector. which i do not know what it is and if i got the nvida mobo if i will be able to use that connector still and if it will effect my laptop.

i also do not know what other parts i will need, and i will also need a guide for it. so if anyone can find one for me and send me a link to it i will greatly apreciate it.

all that i think i need is
.Nvidia Mobo
.descrete gpu heatsink model for t410

but i do not know if that connector will effect somthing or if it will be placed somewhere else on the new mobo. also i will not be able to get a new pc as i got this as a gift so it wont happen sadly. i would either have to wait for christmas or for my birthday less than a month after christmas. I will also need a total cost i do not mind if it is in $ as i will covert it to £'s. If it is not possible due to that connector i will wait to get a t420 and sell my t410 and get the cheapest one with nvidia gpu and buy the best i7 for it.

if anyone can help me with my problem i would be very greatfull.

Thanks For Reading! :D

There is a small bracket that screws in over where the heat pipe for the GPU goes to ensure there is pressure applied from the heat sink to the core.

As far as the connector - that's for the modem. The integrated graphics motherboards have the modem integrated into the motherboard; the discrete GPU models' modems are a daughter card that sits under the palm rest and the modem cable goes there instead. So if you intend to keep your modem, you'll need to get one of those as well and reroute the cable.

From what I read they can be had in a few places but prices tend to be astronomical ($30-$45; roughly £20-£30). The part is 60Y5458. There's some on Amazon at the high end of that range; I saw one sell on eBay Canada for the low end of that but I didn't see any current listings.

If you're willing to consider overseas shipping, I can disassemble a T410 (I've got loads of 256MB NVS 3100 models to pick from) and grab the modem, bracket, screws and such from it for you. Another option (again, presuming your desire) is that I could just send the entire magnesium frame with discrete motherboard and accessories (no plastics/keyboard/fan/HDD etc.) so that you'd only need a new fan, then you can reuse all your old hardware (CPU, HDD, ODD, plastics, keyboard, screen). Assuming my estimate of weight is correct, "first class international" shipping should be about £15 for the base assembly.

woah thats allot just for a bracket, but they are very small and hard to get a asume from the prices. i was gonna say mabie tape it down

if i did get one from you how much would it cost as it would save me a crap ton of time.

i also do not mind oversea shipping as i have got stuff from over seas before so i am famillar with how long it takes to arrive depending on what class postage it is for me that is in the uk. i do not know if you would have 1-3rd class postage/shipping.

thanks for the info aswell.
