T430 hinges on a T420?

#1 Post by CarlosE3110 » Mon May 02, 2016 4:34 pm

So, I managed to break one of the hinges of my two month old T420  . And so I was searching for the part in the internet, except that apparently all T420 hinges apparently dropped off the face of the Earth, so the only place I can find them is on AliExpress for not very cheap. But I've found a bunch of T430 ones, and the T420 and T430 use almost the same chassis, don't they? Is there anything preventing me from just using a T430 hinge on my T420?

There are new T420 hinges, but they are bit pricey: ebay.

The T420 and T430 hinges look very similar, but the HMM has different FRUs for them. It may not be a bad idea to get a used set for $7 - $10 USD and test them out.

Unfortunately, both T420 and T430 left hinge brackets are prone to snapping off overtime.
