T420 no bios after changing settings

#1 Post by Trexie » Tue May 17, 2016 9:48 pm

[b[/b]Hello guys, i have a t420 with 1.46 bios from oleh, i was playing vampire the masquerade when i received a memory management bsod and decided to modify my memory settings, i dont remember much from the memory management screen but i changed something from static to adaptable and from 3gb to nothing in other settings also on that screen. After that i saved the settings and rebooted, but now i dont even get to the thinkpad splash screen, and i stay on a black screen forever, how can i boot back to my os, all lights and the two drives work when i start the computer but nothing else. I have 1333mhz 16GB of ram from sun memory.

Thank you for your help.

I'd try to:

- boot with other memory stick
- reset the BIOS removing BIOS' battery

Here's the HMM:

Same thing happened to me. I was messing around with some settings in the modded BIOS and bricked my system. I got 3-1-1-3 for beeps, and just a black screen (no backlight) with LEDs on.

I attempted to recover the BIOS using WINCRISIS (https://www.bios-mods.com/bios-recovery ... -recovery/) to no success.

I ended up buying a new mobo and swapping it out. Kind of a pain and now I'm wary of messing with modded BIOS.

Please let us know if you figure out a way to recover your system.
