Hello, I bought this ThinkPad T410 and so far I'm loving it (I love the keyboard, it's so comfy) but on the last month this problem has appeard and I don't know what to do. At the beginning it only rebooted when I moved kind of hard ( I thought it was a loose connection or something like that) but then when I tried to look up what the problem was it started to just do it randomly (sometimes it only lighted up the power button led and then it just rebooted or shutdown). I've seem to found that there's some problem with the CPU heatsink because everytime I press it the laptop rebooted, and when I kept the pc on without the keyboard it stayed on without any problems, I think it's not the CPU itself because I also tried pressing the CPU but it did not rebooted, it just happens when I press the heatsink. What could it be? Thanks and have a great day

I had a T61p that did that once. The previous owner installed a screw in the keyboard drain hole instead of the proper hole. A slight pressure on the keyboard would cause a short and system reboot. Removed the screw, place in proper hole (which was missing a screw) and everything worked fine.

I would look for something that is shorting out the motherboard. It won't affect anything until slight pressure is applied from the top, usually keyboard, which will cause a short circuit. Failing that it might be a bad motherboard.

Another option: the screw to hold the CPU in its socket has not been turned "on" properly (all the way to the right).

I did looked if all the screws were reight and after that my pc was working nromal, unfortunately, after a few minutes went, it started doing it again, but thanks for the info.

Today I've tried to look if something was making a short circuit and I think it has something to do with the bottom of the pc, because now I pressed the CPU itself and it rebooted, and then I tried pressing parts of the bottom of the pc and it turned off, is there anything on the bottom that could cause a short?
