I bought it before, but I'm down for another. I'm thinking about getting a T430 or s version and doing the keyboard swap.

Oooo... WQHD... probably want to aim or a T430s for the extra graphics horsepower there and better power handling. I'm definitely interested in one of these pending price and screen availability.

Very interested in the "non-s" kit RMSMajestic, would love to upgrade my standard T420 to FHD IPS. Been a happy camper with the last T420s IPS kit you sent me which still works great now.

Hope it all pans out well for you in this next batch and again many thanks for doing this for the ThinkPad community.

im very much interested in either a FHD or a 1440p kit for my non-s model t420, any details on them yet?

Any chance for getting a WQHD kit (or two..) for the X220/X230? If the kit was to upgrade to 13" X320/X330 would be my dream..

Recommended LCD panel it's working with? (EDIT: the kit may actually come with an LCD -- if so, what type and is it matte (antiglare)?)
Also, I am still not definite whether the brightness changing is working.
Is there an installation manual that I could take a look at, please? (or does it come with one?).

EDIT 27/10: I read the Ebay listing specified in the original post and answers my questions.. X220 is a no-go at all. Oh well.

I can confirm with the previous FHD "-s kits" that RMSMajestic sold, the brightness changing works.

By brightness changing, I assume you mean FN + Home for increased brightness and FN+ End for decreased brightness..

I have a FHD kit for my T430s and it has been marvelous, really added an extra 2 years or so to using it as my main work laptop (software dev so really appreciate extra real estate for code). Brightness controls work no problem, and would highly recommend the kit to anyone. WQHD has perked my interest as well, so I may just need to get another....for the spare T430s I got/stole off eBay!! Gotta love the resale market for our beloved Thinkpads.

What does the WQHD actually mean, adapter on the motherboard for that kind of screen? Also how much for WQHD screen, carbon ones are pretty expensive from ebay. Anyone any working links from somewhere else?

I just got myself a T420s I7 to do this mod for, I just want IPS screen and would prefer the higher resolution in spite of some scaling issues.

He is working on the design right now..... the earliest estimate will be roughly at the end of December for US members.

what panels are compatible for the fhd and qhd? I'd only go qhd if the quality (not just res) is better than fhd. If anyone knows please share so I dont miss the boat on a kit waiting for qhd's that may not come

Yes once things are settled I will post the link. But my best estimate is that it will take about 2 month

Panels compatible for FHD are:

AU Optronics panels:

B140HAN01.0
B140HAN01.1
B140HAN01.2
B140HAN01.3

I personally have used B140HANO1.3 (matte) for a T420s and T430s......you have to be careful to make sure you are buying authentic panels....

I ended up buying used pulled screens from Dell Latitude E7440 14" B140HAN01.3 (matte - Grade A) from a US seller with high feedback.

Yay, been waiting for this for so long I'm overjoyed~ Just hoping I meet whatever special terms...

One question! I'm guessing the non-s T420 FHD kit is also by Javi, is this a new design that fixes the flickering problem? It would be awesome if it does. I know there's one by kingkonglue but I don't want to sacrifice the DP port...

Are these compatible with T430 or just with the "s" version? If not will be a batch for T430?

There are basically two kits. One for T420s and T430s models, and another for T420 and T430, the latter kit causes the screen to flicker in some cases (I for example have a T420 and two T430 modded with this adapter and they work fine).

I would suggest use the USD link and not to wait.....get in while there is a sure thing as there are only limited quantities of the kits....

Yes the WQHD kit and non-s kit will be released some time later. There might be special terms applying to the non-s kits.

I love you for returning I am thinking on buying another kit and tuck it away for safety. For what will become of me if this FHD T420s gets broken or stolen? I've thought it'd be irreplaceable and have chastised myself for not getting a spare.

However, I have two T420 non-s laptops and I am wondering whether a non-flicker version is available perhaps? (I got the second T420 when the T430 came out because of that atrocious keyboard, it's brand new. I also set out to and eventually did score a not-too-expensive of the same keyboard standalone with the USB cord just in case. I will never move from the old keyboard.) The "special terms applying to the non-s kits" -- is that "no return for flicker"?

kindof.... currently Javi tested that the more power consuming solution does not flickek, but the more energy efficient solution does.
