Just found this interesting post on Reddit, that you can replace the 1600X900 screens with a drop-in version as used on Alienware M14X R2.
Those seem to be glossy though.

This is indeed very interesting, not that I particularly like HD+ but I know some people not care much about the aspect ratio/resolution but do for the awful panel quality on these machines.

Not that enthused about 1,600 x 900 which I find kind of suckey.

Be that as it may, if I can snag a cheap 430/430s and match it to a 420 kbd and one of these Alienware screens it could be a great little project.

The problem with Laptopscreen is, that you do NOT get an original screen, only a "compatible" one.
Read the small-print:

- New Grade A+
brand new part made by one of the above mentioned major manufacturer.

Our huge stock of laptop LCD screens have been manufactured by companies like LG Phillips, Samsung, AUO, Chi-Mei, Toshiba, Hannstar, Chunghwa, Sharp, etc.

They don't show or tell you WHAT you will be getting.
You may get lucky, but it is all really "pot-luck".
Not worth taking the risk.

Look for the REAL and MATTE screen LP140WD2-TLG1.

++ 2! I emailed laptopscreen and they cannot guarantee that you will get a specific brand/manufacturer screen...they will only give you something compatible..

I was specifically looking for a AUOptronics screen for my T430s...so ended up getting a used pulled screen from ebay (grade A)
