T510 cracking issues

So my "new" T510 has several new cracks that have recently developed. I know it's not abuse since I've babied this laptop compared to my T400, which I've had for many years without a single crack.

From basic research, it looks like some Thinkpads are especially prone to cracking issues. I'd like to eventually get a new palmrest/outer case for my T510, but is there a way I can tell (before I place the order) if I I'm looking at the crack prone palmrest or a more durable palmrest?
