can windows XP be run on a t420/s/i/si... I might get one if said can be done... which one of the sub models should I get? I definitely need a cd drive built in... i'm leaning toward the i3-2310M model with 4 GB of ram and 1366x768 display... it won't be upgraded from Windows XP since I got other machines that will run newer windows but if xp can run on it it will be tempting since i've never had a laptop with windows xp

if XP can not run on T420 I can still buy the T420 just a higher end model and load windows 7 on it and downgrade my T410 which already has windows 7 to Windows XP

Who would have thought that Lenovo has Windows XP drivers for T420 on their website. You can also use System Update (whatever the XP version is) to get the goods.

http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/product ... beta=false

Unless you have that 64 bit XP, you'll be running a 32 bit OS that can't use more than 3GB of Ram anyway. XP also lacks TRIM support for SSDs. It'd be one fast XP computer regardless.

T420 runs Windows XP fine

Windows XP runs AOK on a T420. Official drivers are available from Lenovo, and security patches that work on XP are available for another two years (just search for posready 2019).

As mentioned, you're limited to ~3.5gb of RAM, and you also have to use workarounds to access >2TB hard drives. But you've got XP.
