Hi I'm currently using my T400 (8GB memory, 128GB SSD, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD) use mainly kodi (playing 1080p videos) and emulation (would like to try dolphin emulator).

Is it advisable to get this dock 2503, add in a PCI-E graphic card (have a old HD5850 running on my desktop else can get a HD7750 low profile) to boast up the performance? How much performance increase will I be looking at?

It depwnds on the graphics card. Put in a cheapo 60$ one from amazon and expect same performance. Put in a 3000$$ gtx titan xp and put your t400 on the 8K 30" dell monitor! Id probably go for a radeon rx480. 300$ you wont regret.

As far as I remember, the 2503 dock will limit the performace of gpu because of the 64 bit data bus. But it is possible to boost performance, look at youtube, there are videos that shows playing battlefield 3 on T500. This is not possible with internal graphics, but with dock mounted one it is possible. I don`t know if it works only with external monitor or is it a way to use external gpu with built-in screen? Does anybody have the information?
