I was given 4GB samsung 1Rx8 PC3L-12800S ram for free and decided to add it to my T410. Unfortunatelly it won't boot after that. Is it possible that my ram i newer and my device won't menage to work with my T410?

I find that the "L", low power, memory modules will not work on some older machines. You could also have gotten a bad memory module too.

Not to mention that most Lenovo laptops seem to prefer 2Rx8 modules.
(where 1Rx8 = one-sided chip-mounting and R2x8 = both sides)

Not to mention that i recommend that ram is dualed up by capacity. Not a big deal if different sizes are used but i always recommend doing using 2 same sized sricks. Also allows it to be faster in dual channel mode.

Ranks have *nothing* to do with number of chips. Ranks is number of "banks" of a group of memory space as viewed from processor's. 1Rx8 is one rank while other 2Rx8 are two ranks. I usually find that notebooks works with 1Rx16 and 2Rx8.
By the way, PC3L is 1.35V not low power. PC3 is 1.5V supply, this support begun with Haswell and fewer chips support like 8 chips per module for 8GB modules. What you need is a PC3-10600 4GB 16 chips module, get a matched set to bring up to 8GB on your T410. That's max capacity, OEM brand label preferred. Like Elpida, Samsung, Micron/Crucial, Hynix.
