[FAN FOUND] T520 what is the best heatsink that will work well with an i7 2960xm and fit in a T520 integrated graphics.
I have had this laptop for a few months now. I am planning to upgrade the processor. I'm really just looking for a fan/heatsink to combat it's insane heat. Is there even a powerful enough fan, if so will it withstand OC for longer amounts of time. Even 24 hours. Help.
To all who have read my request and those who will read this will this be sufficient http://m.ebay.com/itm/262933210164?_mwBanner=1

Are you sure?
That 75Y5774 is a fan for the first X1 (non-Carbon).
You've been ripped off by a seller who doesn't know his stuff!
Look at the CPU screw holes distance/locations if you don't believe me.
That's an eBay case for "not as described" and full money back and they should pay return shipping!
The T520 has a discrete fan: 04W0439/04W1578/04W1579 (also works with integrated GPU)
or an integrated one: 04W0440/04W1580/04W1581
T520 integrated fans look like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/201050818091

The W520 has a 55W fan: 04W0437/04W1574/04W1575
or a 45W fan: 04W0438/04W1576/04W1577
(both might also fit in a T520)

It would appear that there are two exclusive heatsink designs for the 15.6" T/W series that are NOT compatible due to differences in the screw positions of the heatsinks, which may suggest further differences in the laptops' structure frames. The difference is illustrated in the T520 HMM and applies to all T510,T520,T530,W510,W520,W530.
Models compatible with the longitudinally wide base heatsinks:
T510 integrated & dedicated
T520 integrated & dedicated
T530 integrated
Models compatible with the latitudinally long base heatsinks:
W510
W520
W530
T530 dedicated
I don't have a T520 anymore so I can't inspect the physical parts of this laptop's structure frame that prevent installing heatsinks of one type in another. But it would seem the best heatsink you can fit into your T520 w/ integrated is the T520 dedicated heatsink with a thicker CPU heatpipe and two exhaust vents.
You may be bottlenecked with the T520. You may want to look into getting a dedicated gfx T530 or workstation W530 that can take the strongest Ivy Bridge CPUs and have access to the strongest heatsinks and do your OCing from there. Or get a desktop.

Thanks for this. I am looking to do the same T520 i5 to i7, only without overclocking.

@TPFanatic - I'm also looking at the HSF's for T/W52/30's with dGPU for the purposes of CPU upgrade.
Do I understand you to say that the W510, W520 and W530 dGPU HSF's can be exchanged with each other?
I don't belive the T530 dGPU would be compatible with those two. See that link and my pics there. The shape of the triangular GPU heatsink, differs.
